Activities: First Quarter 2004
March 24,2004
Hi
All,
For those of you that were unable to attend our meeting
last night I want to share the following news with
you. We cleared $24,500 on our Heart to Heart Ball.
Congrats
to each of you for your part in committee work, selling
tickets, serving, securing gifts and buying tickets.
It was a huge success because of each of you. Thanks
especially to our Sponsors!!
If you are free to give a couple hours in the office
with data entry, copying, and answering phones that
is a way you can volunteer as well. Whatever you can
do
will be appreciated. Please keep track of your volunteer
hours so they can be recorded.
Thanks to Sydney Anderson, we received a $100 donation
after Sydney's presentation to the Bethel Island Lions
Club. On April 1st we have been invited to come to
the Antioch Woman's Club to accept a $250 check from
the
proceeds of their Home Tour. Great news! Remember to
contact a service club, church group or health organization
about our 12 minute presentation. Come by the office
to get brochures so you can hand them out to friends
and neighbors or strangers. Jinni Ciruli and Nancy
Peterson are always carrying them in their car!!
We currently have five wish applications coming our
way so the Wish Committee will need some of you to
come forward
and help. Anyone who has contact with a travel agency,
a mattress company, or a way to find records on an
adoption in 1952 or rent-a-car company please call
me 978-1883
or 754-3595.
See you on April 19th if not before. Thanks again for
your support.

January 15, 2004: We
are getting down to the final plans for the "Heart
to Heart Ball". Any of you that are planning to
attend and bringing friends, please send in your reservations
today. Weren't the invitations elegant? Lucky for us
the seats are filling up fast!! Please mark your calendars
for Friday, Feb. 13th, starting at 5:30, to set-up and
decorate the hall. Will you bring pizza again, Vince?
We will be setting up a time soon to work on folding napkins and finish up
the favors for our guests. I will get back to you as soon as that is confirmed.
Brenda has dreams about how beautiful the hall will look with what she ordered
and the auction items are coming in slow but what we have is terrific.
Mary

2, 2004: This Saturday, January 3rd, from
9:00 am to 12:00 pm I invite you come to the Rivertown
Resource Community Room ( W. 10th & D St.) to
help with the mailing of invitations for the Heart
to Heart Ball, and to help with a simple project
for favors. Please bring names and addresses of friends
you want to invite for the event. Also, bring your
checkbook if you want to reserve your seats early.
Wish #29 came from Heartland Hospice for a gentleman who wished to go to a "nice" place
for dinner before he was bedridden. His request was for a gift certificate
to the Left Bank Restaurant in Pleasant Hill. He will go with his wife, son,
and a friend when he is feeling up to it. The Left Bank agreed to match our
donation and a gift certificate will be picked up and delivered by Rebecca
Crowder. Thanks Rebecca for arranging this wish over the busy holiday season.
Plans are underway to submit a grant request thanks to Bill Chapman and Cindy
Evans help. There will be more information on this at our next meeting. Our
next meeting is January 19th.
Mark your calendars now for February 13th for decorating the community center
for the Heart to Heart Ball. We will need all hands on deck!! Brenda has some
great ideas to make the room look beautiful.
Let me know if you have the name of a business who wishes to sponsor our event
and or if you have any gift certificates or in-kind donations for the silent
and live auction. Come to the meeting so you can hear what great prizes are
coming in. We could use some more so ask your favorite business if they want
to donate something for this event.
I look forward to seeing you on Saturday. Keep in touch! Remember to keep track
of your volunteer hours for AEWF.
