Current
Activities: Fourth Quarter
2004
November
16, 2004
Thanks
to all of you that came this morning. We got a lot done
and it was especially exciting to hear about the current
wishes that we are working on. One thing I forgot to
mention this morning was that Thelma Crowe, our lady
who went to Notre Dame, has passed away. Her family called
to say they wanted donation envelopes so they could send
our foundation something in her memory. They also said
they had the picture of her in her Notre Dame sweatshirt
enlarged and told the story of her trip, made possible
by us, at the service.
This Saturday, November 20th, Peni and her mom will be taking Marilyn E. on
a two hour shopping trip to Hilltop Mall, in Richmond, to find her a couple
special outfits to make her wish come true. Call Peni if you want to join them
(778-6225). The other part of Marilyn's wish is to grant her a makeover to
feel better about herself, which will happen from 12:00-3:00 on November 23rd
in Pleasant Hill. Thanks to Kelliann's Spa who will be donating an afternoon
of "pampering" for Marilyn. Peni's mom Miriam made arrangements for
this special day.
The other two wishes will be a ride in a Ferrari at Infineon Raceway for Charlie
and a flight to Maui for Dorris and her husband in January. They already have
their room reserved. More on these wishes at the next meeting on Tuesday December
21st at 7:30 am. Hopefully, we will get some publicity for these wishes??
Give Martha Henry a call at 757-0793 if you want to be part of the Community
Free Giftwrapping Day on Dec. 4th at the Somersville Towne Center. The shifts
will be 10:00am-1:00 pm or 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. We will need to bring our own
tape, scissors and one roll of Xmas paper. Vince, you will need more than one
roll to wrap you up!! Ha! This will be our way of "giving back to the
community" for an afternoon.
Be thinking Heart to Heart these next few weeks. I have letters and donation
forms that you can sign and give to a favorite business or friend who would
like to donate that special gift certificate, gift basket or money for the
auction. Come by the office or let me mail the letter out for you. Also, if
you have any names for the invitation list send the addresses to the office
or fax them (978-1884).
SAVE THIS DATE
We have set up our next Strategic Planning Workshop on Saturday, January 8th
from 9:00 - 12:00
Also, as of JANUARY 2005 we will be changing the time and day of our regular
monthly meetings. We will be meeting on the fourth Thursday night at 6:30 pm.
In this way we hope to have more of you in attendance. The meetings are open
to anyone who wishes to come.
A late Happy Birthday to our Founder Rebecca and our Chairman Sharon. May each
of you have a wonderful, relaxing Thanksgiving with family and friends. We
have so many blessings and so much to be thankful for.

Hi All,
Hopefully all of you got the minutes from the last meeting.
If not let me know!
Our monthly meeting will be this Tuesday morning, November
16th, at 7:30 am at the office. One thing that will be
discussed will be whether to change the monthly meeting
to a 6:00 pm meeting instead. I would appreciate any comments
or preferences.
Come and hear Brenda report on our 37th Wish last Saturday,
Peni report on our 38th Wish, and Jim and Susan Davis will
tell you about our 39th Wish that they are organizing and
I will tell you about the 40th Wish. Can you believe it,
four wishes at one meeting????? Hurray for us!!
Peni will give us an update on the "Stirring Committee's" report
on the Heart to Heart Ball 2005. Mark your calendars now
for February 12th, 2005. If you want to have certain friends
on the invitation list please e-mail the office their addresses
and phone numbers. If you have a business or know of a
business who may want to make a cash donation or buy a
table pleaase let me know. Each of us should be able to
donate at least one basket, gift certificate or something
you have made to the silent auction. You can bring it to
the office at any time. Three Board Members have already
committed to a $1000 Sponorship. That is awesome! Just
think only 13 tables to go!!
Rhonda Chaikin is our grant writer and she has been very
busy preparing a grant request to the YH Soda Foundation
for a large grant and then she has submitted two smaller
ones for consideration. We shall see what happens!! Keep
your fingers crossed.
Enjoy this beautiful day with the break from the rain.

October
2004
Hello All,
October 23rd is fast approaching so I wanted to remind
ALL of you to mark your calendars for the 23rd,
from 9:00-12:00, and come to the Rivertown Resource Center for our Plannining
Meeting 11. If your calendars are anything like mine, I
know there are a hundred things happening, but please make
time for AEWF, so we can continue to bring joy to our seniors
at the end of their lives.
Save November 6th, 2:00-6:00, for Wish #37 at the Senior
Center. Brenda Perry has a "special" young lady
for all of us to meet. Once again our favorite caterer
Steve Piane will be helping us by preparing a delicious
dinner.
Save a couple hours of time on December 4th to help with
Christmas wrapping at Somersville Towne Mall. Anyone who
has or would like to donate paper, ribbon, tape etc. give
the office a call. Let me know if you would like to represent
AEWF.
Be thinking "Heart to Heart" as you visit favorite
vacation spots, restaurants, sporting events, the theater
or your favorite spa and ask for business cards or get
names and addresses for our auction. If you know anyone
with a cabin or condo that they would donate for a weekend
that is always a big hit. Naturally, we need money too,
so if you know any business that may want to help sponsor
our event please e-mail me their addresses. Also, if you
have the names and addresses of new friends or neighbors
that would like to be on our invitation list send those
names to me too.
Sharon spoke to the Kiwanis Club
of the Delta and next week she will go to Preferred Hospice
in Concord. Next week a representative from the Ambrose
Lions Club will be presenting Roger a certificate and donation
for his presentation to their club. We will have a display
table at the BBQ at St. John's Lutheran Church this Saturday
and also at the Bethel Island Health Fair, October 29th.
Dave Sanderson met with Carolyn Lamar, and friends from
the Diablo Lions Club, about sponsoring a Golf Tournament
to benefit AEWF next September at Oakhurst Country Club
in Clayton. Greta and Peni, be sure to get that "wine
hole" organized !! If you want to be part of any of
these activities call me at our office 978-1883.
Look forward to seeing some of you at the "Pancake
Breakfast" for Jim Davis this Saturday morning beginning
at 7:00 am., at Cypress Meadows parking lot at 3750 Lone
Tree Way. Come and have someone else fix breakfast for
you! Thanks to you who offered to help.
