WISHES

Wish 1:Elizabeth Baudino McWhorter, 78
Rebecca Crowder, our founder's mother. Elizabeth's wish, "Maybe I'd like to play them One Armed Bandits." She spent some of her final days in Reno Courtesy of the Silver Legacy. Elizabeth died two days later.

 

 

Wish 2: Donna Harrington, 75
Donna, an avid Denver Broncos fan, wished to go to a practice and meet some of the players. Her wish was granted October 1, 1999.

 

 

Wish 3: Ruth Faulkner, 82
Ruth wanted "the biggest basket of fruit ever seen." She grew up during the depression and remembered longing for fruit during that time.

 


Wish 4: Marcelo Araiza, 97
As a toothless man, Marcelo wished for a new dentures so he could eat steak one more time. Dr. Vincent Malfitano of Antioch offered Marcelo a free pair of dentures, but Marcelo died before his final fitting.

 

Wish 5: Paul Day, 68
Paul Day was born deaf yet raised a family of four healthy children and is an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and wished to go to game since he had never been to one. He has terminal cancer and his son, Jeff (in photo), was taking him to a Cardinals game. An Elderly Wish Foundation arranged for Tony LaRoussa, St. Louis Cardinals manager, to meet Paul. Tony also presented Paul with an autographed bat.
